A LAP OF THE GODS
L
ast year marked the 23
rd
time John McGuinness
took an Isle of Man TT win, in what some are
calling his finest ever performance on the moun-
tain course. The Morecambe Missile was
given terrible odds of 14:1 for the win, but
the veteran proved all the doubters wrong
with a stunning performance aboard his
Honda CBR1000RR.
Lucky for you, Honda Racing filmed his
opening lap and put it on YouTube! It all
came to light during a Twitter conversa-
tion between McGuinness and Valentino
Rossi, where Rossi heaped praise of Mc-
Guinness by saying he had, "2 big balls!"
This is some of the most on-the-edge
riding you'll ever see, so sit back and
marvel at the finest TT racer of the modern era
doing what he does best. CN
HAYABUSA RUMORED TO GO TURBO
T
he rumor mill has already
started for the 2017 model
year, and we're not even three
weeks into 2016. This one fo-
cuses on Suzuki, with murmurs
coming from Spanish insiders
motorbikema.es that the com-
pany's long-standing Hayabusa
model will grow to 1400cc and
have a turbo bolted to it for
2017!
Suzuki last gave the Hayabu-
sa a full makeover way back in
2008, when the current 1340cc
machine was released. The
success of Kawasaki's super-
charged H2 and H2R machines
has apparently spurred Suzuki
into action for a very special
machine for next year.
Of course, these are just ru-
mors at this stage, but Suzuki
has a solid foundation in turbo
bikes from the early '80s and
with a new GSX-R1000 con-
firmed for next year, don't be
surprised if Suzuki decides to
give its aging Hayabusa some
serious muscle to accompany
the superbike on showroom
floors in 2017. CN
Could you imagine if Suzuki put a turbo on this thing?!
