INTERVIEW P82 JAKE GAGNE SUPERSTOCK 1000 CHAMPION If it has two wheels Jake Gagne will race it. The 22-year-old from San Diego turned a lot of heads when in the middle of the summer he entered and qualified for a Lucas Oil AMA Motocross National in Utah. At the end of the season he was one of the fastest of the road racers who participated in the Superprestigio of the Americas flat track race. It harkened back to the days of riders like Dick Mann and Steve Wise who raced about every disci- pline of motorcycle racing, often in the same season. Gagne also found time to excel in his day job of racing for the RoadRace Factory Yamaha squad and winning the MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Championship. "I look at the championship this year as a continuation of where I'm trying to get to in my career," Gagne said of win- ning the Superstock 1000 title in 2015. "I hope to eventually race in Superbike and do well there and then ultimately would love to get a shot at MotoGP."
