CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "I'm glad to see him get this reward, as he gives so much of his life to the motorcycle community." Superprestigio As I sit here watching the Superprestigio from Barcelona, I cannot keep from thinking we need to have a World Cham- pionship Dirt Track Series. I, once before, voiced my opin- ion, which was two years ago. Someone needs to put up the money and make it happen. This would be the format: Two indoor events, one a short track and the next a TT. Com- bine the points from the series and crown a World Champion. When I wrote to Cycle News before about this idea there was just one race in Spain. Now there are three races cur- rently, two are called Super- prestigio in Spain and America, and then there is Troy Bayliss' classic in Australia. Have just one more in Italy, sponsored by Valentino Rossi, and you would have a great (but short) series for a true World Championship. Make sure to schedule the se- ries so it does not conflict with World Superbike and MotoGP testing and you would have great entertainment and travel destinations for dirt track fans. Also, have an exhibition of the big motors, so the world fans could hear and appreci- ate the true power of the sport, which we here in the U.S. have grown up with and love. I can't wait for the World Championship of Flat/Dirt Track to materialize. It would be a wonderful series. John Holman What happened here? Marquez didn't have any MotoGP help- ers to guarantee him the win? Wade Ebert Motorcyclist Of The Year I'm a longtime fan of Wayne Rainey and got to meet him at COTA this year. It was great to shake his hand and have a chance to talk to about Mo- toAmerica and the direction they want to take it. I'm glad to see him get this reward, as he gives so much of his life to the motorcycle community. Keen McDowell Not a more deserving person, great choice. Wayne Rainey has always been to those who know him personally and who know of his many racing ac- complishments, as Motorcyclist Of The Year/Decade/Life. And Dingman's quote about "one season does not make a suc- cessful race series," is laugh- able in the face of the huge honor it is to have a man like Wayne Rainey, Chuck Aksland and their entire team taking back American motorcycle road racing from DMG, who said to Gill Campbell, "we see no value in motorcycle racing." KRAVE/MotoAmerica has done more since they took control of AMA Pro from DMG (who was resistant to do so), than those clowns without make up did in their seven-year tenure with it. John A. Stockman [I'm Pretty] much hoping he can get the Laguna Seca GPs back some day—he can do so much and does and has. A great guy, too!! Craig MacDonald Still the rider I admire most.
