AMA TO INCREASE AGE LIMIT IN MOTOCROSS
T
he AMA has increased the age limit rather
significantly in motocross. Starting January
1, 2016, the minimum age for riders competing
on a 250cc four-stroke or two-stroke has been
moved from 12 years old to 14 years old or
older, and the minimum age for a rider com-
peting on a 450cc or above is now 16 years
old or older.
For an example, a racer who is 13 years
old on the day of the event is not permitted to
compete on 250cc model motorcycle. A racer
that is 15 years old on the day of the event is
not permitted to compete on a 450cc model
motorcycle. CN
KAWASAKI ANNOUNCES $2 MILLION
ROAD RACE CONTINGENCY PACKAGE
K
awasaki has announced a massive $2 million in
road racing contingency payments for the 2016
racing season. The program will cover 177 events
across the country, including 48 WERA races and
the 41 races that make up the Championship Cup
Series (CCS).
Naturally, the lion's share of the money will go
the premier MotoAmerica series, which will take
over $1.1 million of the posted $2 million offered,
but the program will also release funds for finishes
in the Chuckwalla Valley Motor-
cycle Association and the Central
Roadracing Association Champi-
onships, so there's plenty of love
to go around.
To be eligible, you will need to
front the grid on a 2015 or 2016
Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja ZX-6R, Ninja
650 or Ninja 300, and your bike
must have "Kawasaki" on both
sides on the fairings with Kawa-
saki Lime Green the dominant
color.
