JARVIS TRIUMPHS AT ROOF OF AFRICA
F
actory Husqvarna's hard
enduro ace finished out
his 2015 Extreme Enduro
season on a winning note
by winning the Roof of
Africa. Jarvis topped the
three-day event held in the
mountainous Kingdom of
Lesotho within South Africa
ahead of Wade Young and
Brett Swanepoel.
Jarvis got out to a con-
servative start, finishing
the first day in sixth place
and knowing full well that
the harder competition lay
in the days ahead. The Brit
flexed a little more muscle
on day two, using a sec-
ond-place finish to move up
to fourth overall.
"I've learned a lot over the
years and I know I'm not as
quick as the younger riders on
the faster sections, so this year
it was all about taking my time
and waiting for the more techni-
cal sections," said Jarvis. "The
first two days were really about
putting myself in the right posi-
tion for the final day."
On day three, Jarvis put on a
strong and steady charge to reel
in the leaders, without push-
ing any harder than he needed
to. Once the event reached its
toughest sections, Jarvis began
to really shine. He extended
his lead to over 20 minutes by
the end to take a
convincing win
at the formidable
event.
"At the start
of the final day I
decided to stay
behind the guys ahead of me
at first," Jarvis said. "I let them
do some of the navigating and
saved some energy. Last year
I ran out of energy so I didn't
want to make that mistake
again. Once we arrived at the
difficult hill climbs I gave it ev-
erything I had. I knew that was
where I could make up time and
things went to plan.
"The Roof of Africa certainly
doesn't get any easier, but to
end 2015 with a win here is a
great way to finish off the sea-
son. It's an incredible event and
this year was tough as ever." CN
Jarvis and the
Factory Husqvarna
team were happy to
close out 2015 on a
high note.
Steady and patient was the way
to go at the 2015 Roof of Africa
where Graham Jarvis reigned
supreme.
