IN THE WIND P32 DUCATI LAUNCHES SCRAMBLER ITALIA INDEPENDENT D ucati has teamed up with Italian style house Italia Independent to release a special edition Scrambler and eyewear range, with a special unveiling taking place in Miami, De- cember 12-13. Limited to 1,077 units world wide, the Scrambler Italia Independent will get a host of styling updates over the regular Scrambler that includes different graphics on the one-off leather seat and tank, black engine with brushed cylinder head fins, black Termignoni muffler and lower café-racer style handlebars with mirrors mounted on the bar ends. The frame, wheels, nose fairing and front mudguard are painted in the one-off Night Copper paint scheme, with the rest of the bike painted in matte black. As part of the deal with Ducati, Italia Indepen- dent will release a range of sunglasses to go with your new Scrambler. "In these days in Miami we have been celebrat- ing art and design, the ideal setting to present the first limited edition of the new Ducati Scrambler and a brand new eyewear collection, the first tan- gible result of our partnership with Italia Indepen- dent," said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding. "Lapo Elkann and his team of creative designers have brought a breath of fresh air and creativity to Ducati, and we are sure that this will be the start of an exciting partnership." CN A special edition Scrambler is coming from Ducati, and special eyewear range. FOR SALE: DEUS D eus Ex-Machina, the Australian company largely credited with advancing the hipster/ surf/retro/custom motorcycling segment, is up for sale. Founder Dare Jennings is in talks with L-Capital, the private equity firm of LVMH about purchasing the ground- breaking company for a reported $25 million. LVMH is responsible for com- panies such as Louis Vuitton and Moet, and if their bid is successful, it is likely to push Deus into other locations beyond the current Los Angeles, Sydney, Bali and Milan locations. The sale of Deus is the second com- pany to leave the Dare Jennings stable after the Australian sold surf company Mambo in 1990 to Gazal Corporation. CN Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny Deus has been a huge influence on motorcycle culture over the past decade.
