VOL. 52 ISSUE 48 DECMEBER 1, 2015 P45
ELECTRONICS
The 959 Panigale uses a
ride-by-wire throttle and
works with the ABS, Ducati
Traction Control (DTC—eight
stage), Ducati Quick Shift
(DQS) and Engine Braking
Control (EBC—Race, Sport
and Rain modes) to help
keep everything under
control. Race gives you the
full 157 horsepower with
ABS on the front only with
no rear wheel lift mitigation
and minimal traction
control; Sport mode
still gives the full 157
horsepower but it comes
in softer at the throttle
opening with slightly more
traction control and full
ABS mode (front and
rear); and Rain gives the
rider 100 horsepower at
the throttle, maximum
(setting eight out of
eight) traction control, a
higher level of EBC and
full ABS. You can go into
the dash and change
these parameters
yourself if you wish.
Unlike the 1299, there
is no Bosch Inertial
Measurement Unit
used on the 959. The
959 can also be fitted
with the Ducati Data
Analyzer.
INTAKE SYSTEM
The 62mm throttle bodies are now fitted with two fuel
injectors per cylinder (one at 45 degrees below the
butterfly and a new shower injector over the top), which is
independently controlled by the Ride-by-Wire system.
FRONT SUSPENSION,
BRAKES AND WHEEL
Fully adjustable 43mm
Showa Big Piston Forks
sit up front. The front
brakes utilize twin
Brembo M4.32 four-
piston calipers gripping
320mm discs, actuated
by a Brembo radial
master-cylinder with a
three-stage ABS system.
