fter two years riding for the Su-
zuki effort in the World Superbike
Championship, former British Su-
perbike Champion Alex Lowes has joined
the new official Yamaha World Superbike
effort.
Having just completed his first test on
the YZF-R1 at Jerez in Spain, Lowes is in
an enviable position compared to many
riders in the World Superbike paddock,
and the rider himself knows this well.
"Having a contract with a good manu-
facturer in World Superbike is something
that you plan to get to," said Lowes. "It
is good for me, and whatever champion-
ship the bike has been in, it has done
really well. There is a lot more behind the
