was faster if the rest of the lap was equal
and consistent. Consistency, however,
is rarely the case in EnduroCross. And
jumping off log and tire takeoffs is unpre-
dictable at best.
The night started off with Haaker tak-
ing the first heat race win and a bonus
championship point, tightening the virtual
points gap between himself and Webb to
only nine.
The second heat race saw veteran
racer Brown take his Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna to the front early. Brown and
longtime EnduroCross racer Jamie Lanza
swapped the lead back-and-forth over the
first lap, getting the roaring crowd on their
feet. Unfortunately for Brown, he came
up short over a jump, landed on a log and
injured his wrist, putting him out for the
six qualifiers.
Webb won at least one of these points
at every round in 2015, and at five events
he won both points available. The 13
bonus points he earned in 2015 are more
than double the closest competitor in the
series—Mike Brown with six.
From the first practices during the day
lap times were compared and track lines
scrutinized. It quickly became clear the
track itself could possibly decide the
championship and race winner. Schaefer
Tracks built a quick course with pro lap
times in the sub 40-second range. The
first straight featured a big-air gap over
the firewood pile that quickly split the field
into the jumps and jump-nots. Another
booter into the pond separated even
