CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Where were all the motocross guys?" MotoGP Mayhem Sorry Bill, (Voices, issue 46, November 17) but I'll have to totally disagree with you (just like most everyone else who knows what really went on at the last several races, and Argentina and Assen). If you would simply put on "your glasses" and maybe learn a thing or two about racing, you'd be able to see that Marc Marquez's intentional actions made it just about impossible for Valentino Rossi to have a fair fight with Lorenzo. Rossi has shown his whole career that he likes a good battle. Yes, he's passionate about his racing, but he's never resorted to the kind of petty behavior that Marquez has shown this season. I was a Marquez fan until Assen. That's where he showed his true colors when he cried because Rossi didn't let him bully him out of the win. But I guess your opinion is Rossi should have crashed or pulled over when Marquez blew the chicane and ran into him. Maybe you should go back and look at some of the great last-corner moves Rossi has made in his career, ones in which he didn't leave the other rider the only options you seem to infer Rossi should have taken. I'm not saying Rossi's never made a questionable move on another rider, but he's never deliberately got in the way of a championship battle (unless he was part of that battle). And yes, Giacomo Agostini said that, "Rossi must have lost his mind," but not for the reasons you think he did, but more because he knew what the implications of Rossi's ac- tions were. Oh, and by the way, I've been following the sport about four times as long as you. Long before Rossi came along. So I believe I can claim to recognize greatness in the sport I love. Marquez was on his way to challenging Rossi for the title of "Greatest of All Time." But his actions back- fired on him and he just lost the war to "The Doctor." Dan B. No Oil-Injection? Unless I missed it, the new YZ250X does not have Yama- Lube oil-injection. What pos- sible reason(s) can Yamaha have for not doing so? The 2016 Beta 250 advertisement announces their new auto- matic electronic oil-injection system. Mike Hopkins There are probably a few good reasons Yamaha didn't install oil-injection to its 2016 YZ250X, but weight is most likely the number-one reason. Even Beta removed oil-in- jection from its Race Edition models. – Editor Where Were The Motocrossers? Does anybody remember Steve Wise, a motocross guy who blew the established flat trackers away ay the Houston Astrodome? Where were all the motocross guys [at the Las Vegas Superprestigio]? Kevin Windham, Chad Reed, Damon Bradshaw, Ezra Lusk, Jeremy McGrath, just to name a few. Where was too-good- to-race, I-might-hurt-myself Nicky Hayden? Roger Hayden was the biggest name there! Superprestigio? I don't know about that! Jeffrey R. Evans Steve Wise didn't quite blow them away, but he did get third at the Houston TT in 1982 despite a barely work- ing back brake on his Honda CR480R two-stroke. As for Nicky, we're guessing he's busy getting his new Honda World Superbike dialed in. – Editor Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com.
