FEATURE 2015 EICMA MOTORCYCLE SHOW P52 TRIUMPH Lots of new bits on the Tiger range High Tech Tiger After releasing details on the new Speed Triple models last week, Triumph unveiled six new Tiger Explorers at Milan. All variations are based around the same Tiger platform, which has received a host of technical and styling updates for 2016, but are then split into two distinct groups. The XR range is more on-road ori- ented while the XC has an off- road bias with spoke wheels instead of cast items. The ba- sic models of both variations now come with fully-adjustable WP suspension as standard, but the higher spec XCx, XCa, XRx and XRt swap this for Triumph's semi-active suspen- sion as well as cornering ABS and traction control and a host of new gizmos such as hill start assistant. Will these updates be enough for Triumph's under- performing adventure bike to keep up with BMW and KTM's offerings? However, Triumph's big sell- ers for 2016 will be the new Bonneville range and the firm has already had to increase production levels to meet de- mand – and that is before the bikes are even in dealerships! More Retro! Guzzi are another company playing the retro card for 2016. The V7 II Stornello uses the V7 engine and has traction con- trol, ABS and the usual knobbly tires and flat seat to create an urban scrambler. To go with the Stornello, the V7 Roamer is more traditionally styled while the Bobber is, well, kind of a bobber. For those want- ing something a bit bolder, the MGX-21 Flying Fortress takes the California engine as a base but gives it mad bagger styling and a 21-inch front wheel. MOTO GUZZI Ducati and BMW aren't the only scramblers in town.
