When the gate dropped for the main event it was Lanza who ripped his KTM Powerparts two-stroke to the Nexen Tire Holeshot award and quickly got in front of a pinched pack fight- ing for breathing room over the first turn obstacle. As he moved away freely, the rest fought for clear air with Redmond, Rob- ert and Webb squeaking out in good positions to give chase. Haaker, just as he had in Idaho, went down in the first-turn area and started his fight for a cham- to the finish line flags, win the heat race with his last-lap pass over Webb. However, it was discovered the top racers had actually done an extra lap. So, the scoring went back one lap where Webb was in the lead and the virtual points gap between Haaker and Webb evened out at a 10-point gap again. Factory Beta's Max Gerston finished in third—in both the last lap and the "extra" last lap—so he went straight to the main as well. During the evening Hot Laps, it was a showdown between Haaker and Webb. This is a valuable point and Haaker put down a heater of a lap that Webb night.
