fter the controversy sur-
rounding the final three
rounds of the MotoGP World
Championship, Marc Marquez was
happy to get back to business at
Valencia, setting the fastest time
across both days of testing.
The former world champion
completed a total of 89 laps over
the two days, using a combina-
tion of 2015 and 2016 chassis but
always on the new Michelin tires.
He suffered two crashes over the
course of the test, the first coming
after just four laps on the new
Michelins.
"We went out on track and on
the opening laps I lost the front,"
Marquez said. "I realized that the
Michelin tires may have worked
well for us in testing at Aragon,
but they react differently on every
type of asphalt. From that moment
we started again, doing a run with
the same bike we used during the
weekend."
The second day saw the
22-year-old Spaniard focus
mainly on the new control Mag-
netti Marelli ECU, running five-lap
sprint sessions to evaluate the
new system.
