2016 BMW G 310 R
I
t's been a long time coming
but BMW has finally taken the
wraps off its first-ever entry-
level roadster in the G 310 R.
Developed alongside Indian
manufacturer TVS Motors, the
310 is a machine BMW hopes
will hook in new riders and keep
them part of the BMW family for
life – a strategy Ducati is also
following with their upcoming
low-capacity Scrambler.
The 310 is actually a 313cc,
DOHC, liquid-cooled single-cyl-
inder four-stroke, with the cylin-
der tilted backwards and rotated
180°. That means the intake is at
the front and exhaust at the rear,
with the little engine reportedly
making 34 hp at 9500 rpm and
28Nm of torque at 7500rpm.
The 313cc engine is encased
in a tubular steel chassis, with
unadjustable upside-down front
suspension and a single shock
out back with preload adjust-
ment. ABS is standard with a
four piston caliper up front.
No word yet has been re-
leased on price or availability
from BMW Motorrad here in the
States. CN
