career win with a 6.846 elapsed
time to beat Smith's 6.888. It
was Krawiec's best run of the
event, including qualifying.
"I made a much better run
against Matt in the final,"
Krawiec said. "We went back to
our pit area and did some work
on the bike and it responded. I
figured we'd have to do some-
thing because Matt was running
pretty well. I couldn't afford to
cut him any slack." CN

scenario was me racing against
Jerry in round two" Krawiec said.
"We had the top three riders on
the same side of the ladder so I
knew at some point we were go-

only after Savoie spun the tire on
the starting line.
"I got really lucky when Jerry
spun the tire," Krawiec said. "I
made one of the ugliest runs
of my career. Everything went
wrong except for the win light
coming on in my lane. I started
to rattle the tire and the bike
drove to the left. I just missed
the foam block by about a foot. It
was a white knuckle ride."
"When I looked at the qualify-
Hines didn't get the win at Pomona,
but he'll gladly take the title.
