with Australian Jack Miller jump-
ing across from LCR and joining
the team's former Moto2 World
Champion, Tito Rabat.
Rabat completed an incredible
140 laps on the Honda RC213V to
finish 18
th
overall, while Miller, who
was two places up on Rabat in 16
th
but crashed three times over the
test, got his first taste of the seam-
less shift gearbox on his new bike
for next year, Scott Redding's old
machine.
"The seamless gearbox makes
a big difference," he said. "You
don't have to worry about keep-
ing the bike in a straight line or it
stepping out unexpectedly, so you
can focus on the other things, like
trying to hit the same line on every
lap. I felt smoother and smoother
on the bike with every exit and that
was reflected in the consistency
of my lap times."
Octo Pramac Ducati's Danilo
Petrucci (11
th
) and new teammate
Scott Redding (13
th
) got used to
the new tires and electronics,
although Redding was far from
interested in lap times.
"I do not care much about
what the clock says," the former
Marc VDS Honda rider said. "We
worked mainly to find the right
feeling, especially on the front.
The first time you get on a new
bike is now important to have a
good feeling."
Frenchman Loris Baz made an
impressive debut in the Avintia
Ducati squad in 12
th
, outpacing
incumbent teammate Hector
Barbera in 14
th
. Likewise Eugene
Laverty (17
th
) got the better of his
new Aspar teammate Yonny Her-
nandez, who was the last of the
regular MotoGP riders in 20
th
. CN
1. Smith (38) spent most of the test
on his 2016 chassis, while teammate
Pol Espargaro (44) mainly used the
2015 machine. 2. Tito Rabat was
impressive on his MotoGP debut
and rode an amazing 140 laps.
3. Redding's new Ducati seems to
suit him better than his old Honda.
4. Crutchlow put on a great end-of-
season performance to finish sixth.
