P94 CN III PRODUCT REVIEW H-D GENUINE MOTORCLOTHES HEATED DUAL-SOURCE 12V JACKET LINER LIST PRICE: $295.00 Harley-Davidson.com http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/ heated-dual-source-12v-jacket-liner Standout Feature Very warm, and can also operate with a remote rechargeable battery Rider Analysis The last few months it hasn't been difficult staying warm on a motorcycle, now that it's getting cooler, if not downright cold, again, it's still not difficult staying warm. One reason is because of Harley-Davidson's Heated 12V Jacket Liner. There are many heated jacket liners and vests out there, but this is the best I've worn so far. First of all, it's comfortable, soft and looks good, and you can even wear it as a lightweight outside jacket if you want. But the best part is that it pumps out tons of heat. The liner has a three-level temperature controller, which eliminates the need of a thermostat. The controller is actually a single lighted (yellow/ green for low, orange for medium and red for "hot") button that is mounted on a drop-down flap that rests on the rider's left leg. (When not in use, the flap folds up underneath the jacket.) The controller (button) is easy to use but you do have to look down significantly to see it. The liner, which also features inner extended sleeves with thumbholes, runs a little on the small side but that's a good thing; it keeps you warmer that way because of the snug fit. I usually wore the liner over a long-sleeve t-shirt, or sweatshirt, under a medium or heavy outer jacket and felt fine in temperatures even in the 30s. With just three temperature choices, I could always find a temp that was comfortable without having to bulk up. The liner easily connects to the bike's battery, but if you swap bikes a lot, like I do, the accessory remote battery comes in handy. It has no problems running in the hottest setting for over an hour. With the battery, I'm able to keep warm even off the bike. My only real complaint with the vest? There is no heating element in the collar. Don't worry if you don't ride a Harley, there is just one small embroidered H-D logo on the front, but it will be hidden under your main jacket 99% of the time. The vest's $295 list price is without question money well spent. Kit Palmer Harley-Davidson's Men's Heated Dual-Source 12V Jacket Liner features a three-level (low, medium and high) built-in temperature controller than runs on either your bike's 12V electrical system or a 12V lithium rechargeable pocket battery, which is sold separately for $99. There are five panels where heat is distributed: one in each sleeve, two in the chest and one in the back. The jacket is made out of 86% polyester, 6% spandex and 8% polyester fleece with polyester mesh lining. With purchase, you get an instruction manual, connecting harness, and accessory plug for heated pants. It comes with a three-year limited warranty.
