but soon Tanke would charge
to the front for the first two laps.
Soon, the nasty Firewood pile
would claim Tanke, sending
her back to fourth. Gomez was
arguably the fastest in the class
but had her own trouble, falling
back to fifth at the halfway mark
before fighting back to second
place in two laps. Pechout was
the consistent racer only drop-
ping out of podium position once
before gaining it back right away.
Martinez ran as high as second
place for two laps before falling
back to fourth on the last lap.
As Women's-class competi-
tors are eligible to race in both
the Open Amateur or Pro class-
es, many have been taking the
opportunity to get more competi-
tion and track time in. In Boise,
after they caught up to me.
Colton charged hard and rode
awesome tonight. I did what I
could and salvaged points and
I can't complain about second
place."
"Tonight wasn't the best night
I've had, actually," Robert said.
"I felt good in practice and made
little mistakes. I got a decent
start in the main but got stuck
in the Firewood on the first lap
and had to just move forward
from there. I just tried to charge,
charge, charge and came from
eighth or ninth up to third and
I was right on Cody in second
for the last couple laps but I just
couldn't make the move."
The Women's Class Champi-
onship is heating up, big-time!
And the series finale in Ontario,
California, November 21, will see
a hard battle for the number-
one plate as the top two racers,
FMF/RPM/KTM Team Maxxis'
Rachel Gutish and Husqvarna's
Sandra Gomez, are tied in
points.
The Women's Class is always
exciting and Idaho's event held
true to that with Gutish taking
the win over Gomez. Defending
Champion Lexi Pechout rounded
out the podium. GNCC Cham-
pion Kacy Martinez finished
just off the podium with Melissa
Harten, Morgan Tanke, Re-
gina Webb (yes, Cody's sister),
Shelby Turner, Sabrina Webb
(yes, Cody's other sister) and
Veronica Whitesell capping off
the top 10.
Gutish got off to a great start
Kyle Redmond
was hoping to
follow up a big
win in Australia
with another
victory, but a
fifth would have
to do in Idaho.
