2016 BETA 350 RR
FIRST RIDE
P64
right out of the crate against the
KTMs and Husqvarnas, and for
just plain fun, casual off-road
riding, the 350 RR is hard to
beat.
What makes the Beta 350 RR
so good you ask? That's easy—
the engine. It was only a few
short years ago that Beta start-
ed building their own enduro
powerplants and they figured
it out quickly, especially with
the 350's liquid-cooled four-
valve single-cylinder engine.
It's snappy, revvy and fast—all
things experienced riders want
from an off-roader. But if you're
a novice, don't worry; the power
delivery is so smooth, predict-
able and manageable that you
will love it, too. Beta was a little
slow jumping onto the fuel-in-
jection bandwagon, doing so for
the first time just last year with
the 350 RR. Now all of Beta's
four-stroke RR models are fuel-
injected. Luckily, the wait for FI
wasn't too dramatic. Even when
the 350 was last carbureted
(2014), it ran remarkably smooth
and no one really cared all that
much that it was still carbureted,
but with the addition of EFI,
the 350 RR, now entering its
second year with FI, runs even
better. Right from the get-go,
Beta had its closed-loop 42mm
Syneret fuel-injection system
dialed and they still do with the
2016 model.
Even though the 350 RR is
plenty fast, it's at the slower
speeds that this bike really
shines. Throttle response is so
smooth and controllable that
(Above) Those Italians certainly
know a thing or two about styling.
(Right) The Beta is just plain fun to
ride, fast or slow. It gives you the
confidence to try anything.
