FIRST LOOK P40 2016 TRIUMPH THRUXTON AND THRUXTON R O kay, take everything we just said about the T120 and add more. That's essentially what you're getting with the all-new Thruxton—more power, better suspension, better brakes, more noise. More of what we like. The Thruxton broke the first 100 mph lap at the Isle of Man all those years ago and thus has a very special place in Hickley's heart, so for next year it gets the biggest torque increase available with this new generation, water- cooled, 1200cc parallel-twin engine—a whopping 62 percent increase to 82.6 ft-lb at 4950 rpm over the old Thruxton! We thought the T120 had a big increase; the Thruxton's is stratospheric! The torque increase on what Triumph is calling the "High Power" eight-valve unit comes by way of a lighter crank, higher compression, all-new exhaust system and a redesigned airbox. You get all the other features of the T120 and T120 Black (Ride- By-Wire throttle, traction control, ABS, etc), but as this engine produces much more torque higher up in the rev range, don't be surprised if a few Thruxtons don't start popping up at some local track days.
