SUZUKI'S TURBO-TWIN BREAKS COVER
M
ore goodness out of the Tokyo Motor Show
came in the form of Suzuki's long-awaited par-
allel twin-cylinder engine dubbed the "XE7," rumored
to be that of the upcoming Recursion, the machine
that sent tongues wagging at the 2013 Tokyo Show.
Suzuki wasn't saying much about the new power
plant, and certainly wouldn't go as far as admitting it
was for the Recursion, however, we do know from
the 2013 show that Suzuki was claiming 100 hp at
8000 rpm and 75 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm—ex-
tremely impressive numbers for a 588cc parallel-
twin.
Interestingly, the intercooler is located on top of
the cylinder head next to the plenum chamber; the
Recursion's intercooler is widely regarded to be
located under the seat, so we'll have to wait and see
what the finished production version will be like.
Suzuki is rumored to be bringing a number of new
machines to Milan for the upcoming EICMA Show
this November. Will the Recursion be one of the
stars? When we have the answer for you, we'll let
you know. CN
CREATED TO SURPASS YOU
T
he robots are coming. And they're taking over
motorcycle riding. Yamaha has just released
a rather creepy video on their latest design,
Motobot. As you might guess from the name,
Motobot is Yamaha's electronic motorcycle rider,
a robot that can ride on its own.
The robot has been under development at
Yamaha, where the company aims to develop
the machine to ride at over 150 mph on track,
unaided. Yamaha states that it aims to use Moto-
bot to help develop rider safety systems. Hey, if
Motobot wants to crash its, err, electronic brains
out so the bikes we ride are safer, we're all for it.
