left feet under the over the knob-
less shifter, for the next 18 hours.
But it's not all lost. MacDonald
gets on and pounds out the laps,
reaching a personal milestone
as, for the first time ever, he
pops his knee dragging cherry.
The man is now dragging knees
at every given opportunity, push-
ing the envelope harder and
harder, but never stepping over
the mark.
And that's the theme of the
evening. Fill the tank, swap the
rider, do an hour, and repeat. We
could be getting up to three hours
out of the tank, putting us at a
clear advantage over the rest of
the field. What we hadn't consid-
ered is even the little NSR50 two-
stroke bikes can make it to two
hours on a tank, and some riders
are doing double-stints all day, all
night, plus they've more power
(I know, a 50cc!), so unless we
run to three hours per rider, any
advantage we may have had is
null and void.
One advantage we do have
is around the corners. The little
RS50, with its swimming pool-
soft suspension, actually turns
and carries corner speed really
well, and it's here we make up
some time and places in the
