As pole starter Pedrosa led
from start to finish, and as
Lorenzo bullied his way into an
early second—passing Rossi and
Marquez on consecutive laps—
and took off in fruitless pursuit,
Marquez and Rossi were already
fiercely engaged, and the Honda
rider's delaying tactics looked
quite deliberate. At one point
after yet another re-overtake of
the Honda, Rossi looked round
and waved angrily: "Stop mess-
ing me about."
What looked even more
deliberate was his attack on
the seventh of 20 laps. They'd
already changed places several
times. Rossi had the inside line
on the right-hand loop into turn
14, leading onto the long back

target is to finalize a master plan late
in November, with the next steps
including renovation works at the
Sentul circuit outside Jakarta, pend-
ing FIM homologation. The circuit
hosted two races in 1996 and 1997,
but the circuit was in poor condition,
and there has been no return in the
intervening years.
