M 1 G P 2 4 H O U R P94 FEATURE But they do it on Superbikes, and I'm on a tiny Aprilia RS50 powered by very tired Honda XR100 mill. Baby steps for this budding endurance champion. I blame Sean MacDonald for this, one of my five teammates for this race and a gentleman I have become mates with since my move to the States. He has a way with words in getting me to agree to the race that is sly and smart at the very least. The conversation went like this: Sean: "Hey man, wanna wreck yourself in a 24-Hour?" Me: "F**k yeah! Where do I sign up?" As you can see, a real way with words. However, the man entirely responsible for this 1 a.m. mission into the abyss is not Sean, but Chris Cantle, the respected car journo who has a fetish for things with half the wheels he's used to, and proprietor of our race outfit, Team Little Feet. Chris has long been a rider and is just now venturing into motorcycle racing, starting slow, as it were, with a Honda XR100 engine in a 24-hour race for little bikes. He has the enthusiasm of a child on cotton candy, of someone who hasn't crashed enough to be cautious of 24 hours of racing. But he's good, because by the end of the race we will have suffered only one crash, and it wouldn't be his. THE LITTLE RS50, WITH ITS SWIMMING POOL-SOFT SUSPENSION, ACTUALLY TURNS AND CARRIES CORNER SPEED REALLY WELL.
