VOL. 52 ISSUE 42 OCTOBER 20, 2015 P83
Briefly...
Utah privateer Nick Thompson has
had a great season and was seventh
in points after the previous round in
Denver. Unfortunately, Thompson
broke his arm during a crash in the
pond at the Denver event, but, amaz-
ingly, he still qualified for the main,
where he finished eighth. Ironically,
Thompson originally broke the arm
by crashing in the pond at the 2014
Las Vegas EnduroCross and had a
plate in the arm. He had to sit out the
Everett event and dropped to ninth in
the points.
There is a bit of a youth movement in
the EnduroCross pro class in 2015.
Ty Tremaine, Noah Kepple, Coo-
per Abbott and Ty Cullins are all
teenagers and all four riders qualified
for the main event in Everett. Those
four riders are also the top four, re-
spectively, in the chase for the Junior
EnduroCross Championship, which
is a championship within a champi-
onship for riders 21 and under.
On the other end of the age spec-
trum, Mike Brown and Destry Ab-
bott are both 43 years old but re-
main very competitive, with Brown
currently third in the championship
while Abbott is 11th.
EnduroCross events include three
support classes and Canada's Ste-
phen Foord again took the Vet class
win on his Beta. Ryan Pugh and Ja-
son Gitchel took second and third.
In the Open Amateur class, Arizona's
Cody Miller took the win over Tyler
Kinkade and Joel Tonsgard. The
TrialsCross class was another spec-
tacular battle among several riders and
Nick Lathrop came away with the win
over Kyle Larsen and Jake Lackie.
