to within a second by the finish
after a dire start, having got-
ten ahead of Danilo Petrucci in
the closing laps, both leaving a
fading and shame-faced Andrea
Dovizioso trailing in an inexpli-
cable 13th.
Jack Miller had a strong race
to be top Open bike for the first
time, although he had ceded a
long-held 14th to Alvaro Bautista
in the latter stages. His sixth fin-
ish in the points was not his best
result, but he had every reason
the gap would almost double by
race end.
Crutchlow's problems were
not over. Vinales had been
inches behind the pair all race
long, and ahead of the fading
Crutchlow with three laps to go.
He was only two seconds off
Pedrosa at the finish.
Aleix Espargaro had dropped
off the back of this group before
half distance to be passed for
eighth by brother Pol, the pair
still close at the end, and Brad-
ley Smith less than a second
