D
irt track. It's all the
rage these days, or,
at the very least, has
sparked a lot of interest ever
since Marc Marquez and Brad
Baker's epic duel in the first
iteration of the modern-era
Superprestigio in Barcelona,
Spain, back in January 2014.
And it has certainly become
the en-vogue form of training
for road racers like Marquez
and Valentino Rossi. They
have inspired many others to
go back to what bred so many
American road racing world
champions.
Throw in the Troy Bayliss
Classic in Taree, Australia,
that has drawn many top
Australian racers, including
the semi-retired two-time
world champion himself, and
you have a sport that is on the
verge of blossoming into a tru-
ly international phenomenon.
With that success there has
been talk of a triple-crown
event: the Superprestigio in
Spain, the Troy Bayliss Clas-
sic Down Under and a race
here in the U.S., where dirt
track has its strongest roots.
Although that triple crown has
not yet materialized in of-
ficial form, the U.S. will soon
