VOL. 52 ISSUE 42 OCTOBER 20, 2015 P81 BY SEAN FINLEY PHOTOGRAPHY BY DREW RUIZ C ody Webb, the defending GEICO AMA EnduroCross Champion, had a perfect evening inside the XFINITY Arena in Everett, Washington for round seven of the 2015 championship chase. The FMF/RPM/Team Maxxis KTM rider won his heat race, set the fastest time during the Hot Laps and then led most of the 15-lap main event to take the win and maximum points on the night. His closest rival, Rock- star Energy Husqvarna's Colton Haaker, salvaged second in the last turn to limit the damage but still fell to 11 points back with just two rounds remaining. FMF/KTM's Taylor Robert got the evening started with a win in the first Pro heat race. The women's class was another amazing battle among several riders and in the end, Maria Forsberg, the former EnduroCross and multi-time GNCC Women's Champion, took the win. It was an especially sweet win for Forsberg as she retired from full time racing two years ago to have a daughter. The Washington native raced the X Games Enduro X in June and finished fourth in her only other major race this year. Morgan Tanke took second on her Beta X Trainer and Husqvarna' Sandra Gomez fin- ished third despite racing with bro- ken bones in her foot. Rachael Gutish, who finished fourth in Everett, currently holds the points lead in the Women's class with 133 over Shelby Turner and Sandra Gomez, who both have 124. Lexi Pechout and Morgan Tanke are also close with 121 and 120, re- spectively. The women get to drop their lowest score before the Ontario final and Spain's Gomez missed the opening round in Daytona so she would take the lead if you drop each rider's current lowest score.
