By the time the front four
started to put a gap on
Crutchlow, after one-third
distance, Lorenzo's earlier
runaway–at one point almost
1.5 seconds–was coming into
jeopardy. Marquez was slicing
a few tenths every lap, and the
other two were coming with
him, at least for a while. But
by lap 17, when Marquez was
ready to pounce, Iannone was
back in front of Rossi and 1.3
seconds adrift.
Marquez led laps 18 to
20, but he couldn't get away
and his front tire was feeling
queasy. "I thought, time to
cool down." Lorenzo took over
again, and by now all four were
together again, for that classic
finale.
Behind them, it took Pedrosa
until lap 16 to get ahead of
Crutchlow, who complained
afterwards of constant wheel-
