Things started out pretty tough
for Stewart, the defending cham-
pion at the Straight Rhythm.
Stewart found himself in an
unexpected position, qualifying
third Friday with a 43.025-sec-
me being halfway off. You either
do it or you don't do it, because
once I start [training], I plan on
really hammering it down for the
next few years. So I just took
a chance and looked at it as a
blessing."
putting in a ton of laps to stay
sharp at home, Stewart decided
he should try and use his forced
time off to really take time off
and recharge his batteries, so to
speak.
"Yeah, the forced time off, it
got me," Stewart said on Friday,
the day before the Red Bull
Straight Rhythm. "I grew some
titties for a little bit [laughs], grew
some weight, pants got a little
tighter. But I was like if I'm going
to be off, there's no sense in
