CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Yeah, I know, dirt mongers outnumber the pavement guys 2000:1 but this week's issue was too muddy for me." Dirt Bike News? With so much dirt bike cover- age, perhaps a name change is in order? (Issue 40, October 6) Table of contents? Dirt bike. All three Captured photos? Dirt. Franti- cally looking through In The Wind. Sigh. Relief comes on page 26 with Andrew Hines on his fake Harley…light at the end of the tunnel! Not. More rock flingin' ahead. Even the cancel- lation of the Calistoga Half Mile (which sucks) comes before the tiny WSBK coverage. Gor- don Ritchie for president! C'mon, guys. MotoGP, WSBK seasons are still on. Never mind the new-for-2016 bikes. Heard of the classic bike craze going on out there? Yeah, I know, dirt mongers outnumber the pavement guys 2000:1 but this week's issue was too muddy for me. Awesome Fanschoice.tv article. Cheers. John Chavez Wants To Chime In First off, I love the magazine, uh err…I mean newspaper. I've been reading Cycle News for well over a decade now and rely on CN to have ar- ticles worth reading. I enjoy the Looking Back section and can remember reading the CN issues from 10 years ago. I still remember when Ricky Carmi- chael won the MXoN for us in France back in 2005. I can't say I've been follow- ing your magazine for 20 years yet, though, but I'm not too far from there. Once that happens, I might hit my mid-life crisis and go out and buy a T-Rex bike. Haha, just kidding, that will never happen. Cycle News is definitely for the motorcycle enthusiast instead of for the fashionista's that are more worried about what kind of music Roczen listens to, and I thank you for that. No other magazine does as good of a job reviewing new bikes and giving race reports that happened less than a week ago. Other publica- tions take more than a month, a month! As a Millennial, a month is way too long and by that time, the news is old and irrelevant. Okay, enough massaging your ego. My main reason for writing you guys today is because of one little gripe I have with the Cycle News. How come there's no Friendly Fire post on either the website or on Facebook? This is by far my favorite section of the magazine…I mean newspaper! I would love and I mean love to comment my two cents as well as read what other people had to say. If this section of CN is already being posted and I've been too oblivious to notice, please point me in the right di- rection so that I can spend the rest of my days reading com- ments and getting into a harsh, yet constructive, arguments with other like-minded motor- cycle nuts. Jacob Nelson Thank you, and we can do that…Editor Loud Pipes Umm, I almost hate to say this, but I spent a great amount of time and money testing various two-stroke silencers on the dyno. The most successful designs gained—10% bhp—but were (I admit) annoyingly loud. Meanwhile, when using these cans on the street, sim- ply blipping the throttle got more attention than press- ing the little meep-meep horn button. I don't want to fan any silly flames here, but what more can I say? Vic Plichota Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com.
