IN THE WIND P38 HERNANDEZ FINDS A HOME D umped by the Pramac Ducati team for next year, news was confirmed at the Motego MotoGP that Colombian rider Yonny Hernan- dez's MotoGP future has been saved with the announcement of a new contract with the Aspar team for 2016. This coincides with the Spanish team owners' plans to switch from the disappointing Open-spec Honda to Ducati next year. Hernandez's past sea- son and a half have been riding the Italian V4s. Other 2016 news at Motegi: Fabio Quartararo is to join Leopard Racing's Moto3 team alongside Joan Mir; Rossi's half-brother Luca Marini will join Baldassarri in Forward Racing's Moto2 team, and Peugeot is planning to enter Moto3 with Mahindra machines, possibly renamed, to promote their scooter range. Michael Scott MALCOLM STEWART SET FOR 2016 M alcolm Stewart has found a home for— this time—the entire 2016 season. Last year, Stewart was a member of the GEICO Honda Team but only for the 250 Supercross series. That was the original deal Stewart had with the team, so when racing went out- doors Stewart was left with- out a ride and took the sum- mer off. He returned at the Red Bull Straight Rhythm in Pomona, California, Octo- ber 10, as a member again of the GEICO Honda Team, but this time for the rest of 2015 and the entire 2016 racing season. "I will be returning with GEI- CO, but with a full year this time for 2016," Stewart said. "Indoors and outdoors." The only thing that isn't cer- tain yet is which class he'll be competing in. He'll be on a 250 for Supercross, that is for sure, but for the outdoors, he could be on a 450. Chances are, however, that he'll ride a 250 through the year. "We're working on that," Malcolm said of which class he'll ride. "We've got to start with A1 [Anaheim Supercross] first." Just in case, though, Stewart says he has thinned out some for the upcoming season. "I dropped some weight just in case I do have to ride a 250 outdoors," Stewart said. "I've got to be ready. But these bikes are fast. They can carry the weight." Steve Cox PHOTOGRAPHY BY STEVE COX Malcolm Stewart will compete on the GEICO Honda Team full-time next year.
