P116 40 Years Ago October 21, 1975 It was all things Harley-Davidson in Cycle News 40 years ago. We tested the limited edition Harley-Davidson 250 MX, we covered Mike Kidd's ABC Race of Champions win (on a Harley, of course) in Louisville, Kentucky, we hung out with new AMA Grand National Champion, Harley-Davidson's Hank Scott, and we chatted with John Harley, and William and John Davidson. At the time, it wasn't often that you could get these three in the same room at the same time, but we did… Alex Jorgensen wrapped up the Ascot points title. 30 Years Ago October 23, 1985 Cycle News traveled to Spain and the Pyrenees to cover the International Six Days Enduro. Sweden won the event, while the American team, made up of Brian Mull, Larry Roeseler, Dave Bertram, Jeff Fredette, Geoff Ballard and Johnny Martin, finished fourth. Bertram was the top American class finisher… George Holland and Greg Zitterkopf were the big winners at the CMC Trans-Cal Supercross in Madera, California… Alan "Crazy" Christian won the Coors U.S. National Speedway Championship. 20 Years Ago October 18, 1995 Ty Davis grabbed a big chunk of the cover 20 years ago for clinching the 1995 AMA Enduro National title in Texas. It was both Davis' and Kawasaki's first National Enduro Championship… Alex Criville won the Catalonian Grand Prix over Sinichi Harada and Loris Capirossi… Scott Parker earned his 69 th career victory at the Pomona Half Mile. It was his fifth win at Pomona… We interviewed motocrosser Damon Huffman after his switch from Suzuki to Kawasaki… Scott Plessinger won the Wilderness 500 GNCC/Hare Scrambles in Virginia. LOOKING BACK 10 Years Ago October 19, 2005 Ricky Carmichael in all his glory was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 10 years ago for winning the U.S. Open at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. He won both nights and pocketed $100,000. It was also his third win at the event. Bret Metcalfe won the Lites class overall… We covered Chris Vermeulen's World Superbike win at the Magny-Cours Circuit in France… Shane Watts topped the OMA National round, the Coyote Cross-Country, in Iowa… Henny Ray Abrams interviewed Yamaha President Takashi Kajikawa.
