Geoff Aaron and Webb took
the wins in each of their heats.
The top two from each heat
race ride a Hot Lap against the
clock, which rewards another
point for the fast time and de-
termines the gate pick for the
main event. Webb set the fast-
est time while Haaker crashed
again. So Webb had already
gained two bonus points, while
Haaker would have the sixth
gate pick. Momentum was cer-
tainly not on Haaker's side.
When the gate dropped for
Briefly...
SRT Racing backed Cory Graf-
funder entered the Denver event
fourth in points but had a tough eve-
ning that saw him miss qualifying for
the main event. After a tough heat
race, he was leading his LCQ but got
stuck in the rocks and took several
seconds to get going. He dropped
back to fifth in the points.
Geoff Aaron lives in California now
but he lived in the mountains outside
of Denver for several years. He had
a great homecoming as he won his
