IN THE WIND P36 CALISTOGA HALF-MILE CANCELLED T he Ramspur Winery Calistoga Half-Mile presented by Triumph, originally scheduled as round 13 of the 2015 AMA Pro Flat Track schedule, has officially been canceled. Officials had previously announced that the event had been postponed, as Calistoga Speedway was being used as an evacuation center for those displaced by the wildfires in California. However, despite the best efforts of all involved, it was not possible to identify a suitable rescheduling date at the facility. "First off, our hearts and thoughts are with the people that have had their lives irreparably changed," said Terry Otton, on behalf of the event promotion team. "Despite all of our efforts and everything we were willing to do, we just couldn't get it done. We're sorry for our fans, and we're really looking forward to 2016 and planning our future events." "This has been a very trying time for people in the Northern Napa Valley region and we continue to send our thoughts and prayers their way," said Michael Gentry, Chief Operating Officer of AMA Pro Racing. "While we regret that we are unable to bring the sport to the community in 2015, we look forward to returning to Northern California in future seasons to put on great racing for our many fans in the area." Fans who purchased pre-sale tickets for the 2015 Ramspur Winery Calistoga Half-Mile presented by Triumph will be offered a complete refund. CN AUSSIE JOSH BROOKES HAS ONE HAND ON BSB TITLE J osh Brookes took a decisive double victory at the penulti- mate round of the British Super- bike Championship at Silverstone, October 3-4. The Australian now holds a 47-point lead in the series heading into the final round at the Brands Hatch triple-header over defending champion Shane Byrne after the Londoner could only manage 2-5 finishes on the PBM Kawasaki. Brookes and his Milwaukee Yamaha were in imperious form at Silverstone, smashing the lap record in qualifying to take pole from the in-form John Hopkins on the Moto Rapido Ducati Panigale R with Byrne way back in 10 th place. Yet Byrne would put on a champion's ride in race one, scything his way through the field to eventually take sec- ond place behind Brookes with BMW's Peter Hickman and Hopkins, robbing James Ellison on the final lap to take third and fourth places, with Ellison a despondent fifth place. Race two saw Brookes shuffled back in the pack off the start but, like Byrne in race one, Brookes picked off his opponents with remorseless pace, eventually taking the lead from Ellison and pulling away to an easy victory from Tyco BMW's Michael La- verty and Linfoot in third. In the Supersport class, American James Rispoli had his best round of the season on the Team Traction Control Yamaha, taking a pair of second-places behind Luke Stapleford in race one and Glenn Irwin in race two. The result cements Rispoli's fifth-place in the championship with one round to go, with Sta- pleford already crowned cham- pion. CN Aussie Josh Brookes (center) has one hand on the coveted BSB title.
