Robby Bell repeated last year's
victory by winning the $2000
AMA West Coast Grand Prix
Series feature race at the 42nd
Annual Viewfinders Russ Jen-
kins Memorial GP hosted by the
Viewfinders M.C.
However, it was Zip-Ty Racing
Husqvarna's Blayne Thompson
who led most of the 90-minute
race, only to run out of fuel on
the last lap. He eventually got a
splash of fuel and went on to fin-
ish ninth in the WCGP Pro class
and 13th overall.
"It was nip and tuck whether I
was going to catch Blayne," Bell
admitted. "On the last lap I got
right up on him and I could tell
he was starting to feel the pres-
sure a little bit because he was
blowing a couple corners. So I
want to say I would've got him,
but you never know. He was go-
ing really, really fast that last lap."
It marked the second win of
the season for Bell who isn't
running the entire eight-round
series.
Maxxis/FMF/RPM Racing
KTM's Eric Yorba finished sec-
ond for the second round in a
row on his 450 XC-F.
Yorba had to hold off a charg-
ing Colton Udall for most of
the race, the Ox Motorsports
Honda rider having to settle for
third after a few mistakes late
in the race and seeing his win
streak end at three in a row. Ox
Motorsports CRF450X-mounted
Sean Collier finished fourth after
running as high as second early
on with Ryan Reina rounding
out the top-five on his John Burr
Cycles/TBT/AXO KX450F.
In the WCGP Pro II class, Zip-
Ty Racing Husqvarna's Dalton
Shirey picked up his third win of
the season, though he's also not
riding the entire series. Behind
his sixth overall, class runner-up
Trevor Stewart aboard a John
Burr Cycles/Enzo/Alias Gear
YZ250 had his hands full fending
off 3 Brothers Husqvarna's Nick
Stover, those two finishing eighth
and ninth overall, respectively.
Purvines Racing Beta's Nick
Burson separated Shirey and
Stewart; he'd come from the
second row since he was more
concerned with getting District
desert points, succeeding by
winning the WCGP H/W Expert
class. He also won Vet H/W
Expert and H/W Expert over the
weekend.
