MOTOCROSS
MONSTER ENERGY MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS
SEPTEMBER 26-27, 2015
ERNEE CIRCUIT / ERNEE, FRANCE
P84
gave it everything they had ten years
later, they couldn't repeat the feat
from 2005 and instead had to settle
for second place. Top honors went
to Team France who backed up its
efforts from Latvia a year ago with six
outstanding performances, edging
the Americans by two points in front of
one of the biggest crowds motocross
has ever seen.
For the first time in many years,
Americans came into the race as
the underdogs with the home na-
tion of France touted as the favorite.
Not only were they at home but their
team included the recently-crowned
2015 MXGP World Champion Ro-
of the French region of Brittany. It
was the first year that they used the
Motocross "of" Nations title instead
of "des," and while that still leaves
a bitter taste in the mouths of many,
few can argue that since those epic
scenes in 2005, this race has be-
come the highlight of the motocross
calendar regardless of which side of
the Atlantic you call home.
That weekend it was an Ameri-
can team of Ricky Carmichael, Ivan
Tedesco and Kevin Windham that won
back the Chamberlain Trophy after a
four-year drought for the Americans,
and although the trio of Justin Barcia,
Jeremy Martin and Cooper Webb
Cooper Webb and Romain Febvre continued their
rivalry from the Grand Prix of the USA at Glen Helen.
