he great American writer, Elbert Hubbard, said
it best. "Don't take life too seriously. You will
never get out of it alive." As the BMW and I chase
Adam's Aprilia down the canyon to our lunch stop,
Hubbard's words creep into my thought process and
I can't help but laugh, thinking he must have been a
rider, and he must have been referring to the state of
mind one finds oneself in when riding a naked bike.
For if superbikes are all about speed, and tour-
ers all about comfort, a naked bike is that goof-off
kid who never took school seriously, played hooky,
smoked a bit of green and yet somehow ended up a
respectable individual capable of the odd surprise.
