ing his jaw and losing a number
of teeth. But his determination
and speedy recovery saw him
return to racing without los-
ing any ground. Both Bell and
Sutherlin suffered injuries this
season, but Bell didn't miss
any races, and his consistent
finishes allowed him to wrap up
his second Pro WORCS champi-
onship one round early.
"Once I made it through the
fire pit on the last lap, which I
crashed in a couple of times
today, I finally let it soak in that
I knew I had second place and
I had the championship," Bell
said. "Crossing the finish line felt
really, really good with every-
thing that happened to me the
last couple of months and just
mentally trying to get back to full
form and fitness. With nothing
on the line as far as the cham-
pionship goes at Primm, I just
want to go out there and make a
statement, and end the season
on a high."
After a serious wreck at the
Baja 500 several months ago,
Justin Jones made an impres-
sive return to WORCS racing
by claiming the final spot on the
podium. The Glen Helen regular
made his return a notable
one, running in the second
spot for most of the race.
"It feels good to be
back," said Jones. "I had
a pretty big injury, which
kept me off the bike for
three months, and I started
riding again five weeks
ago, so it just feels good to
be back and get back into
the groove of things and
hopefully pick up some
support for next year. I
want to thank my Hinson
Honda Team and everybody
that helps me out, my family and
friends. I will be back strong for
Primm."
RPM/KTM's Travis Coy
finished in the fourth spot. He
inherited the point from his
teammate, Eric Yorba, who had
issues on the final lap and had
to retire to the pits. Jeffrey Loop,
who grabbed the holeshot,
rounded out the top five.
In the Pro 2 class, Dalton
Shirey wrapped up the champi-
onship with his sixth win of the
season. Benny Breck claimed
the second spot on the podium
followed by Travis Damon.
"We've been having bike is-
sues, so Ty Davis allowed me to
race his bike today, which was
really cool of him," said Shirey. "I
already wrapped up the National
Hare and Hound Championship,
so it is great to also wrap up the
WORCS championship as well."
Jeremy Newton dominated the
Pro 2 Lites class for his first win
of the season. Logan Chambers
finished in the second spot, and
class points leader, Mitch Ander-
son, rounded out the podium.
