MOTOGP SILLY SEASON UPDATE
W
ho-goes-where is becom-
ing more hectic as the end
of the season approaches, with
the future of HRC favorite Jack
Miller in the balance in a land-
scape of shifting sands.
While all major berths—includ-
ing all Honda, Yamaha and Ducati
factory seats—are already sorted,
the dust has yet to settle on the fi-
nal disposition of some important
satellite teams and riders.
Tech 3 Yamaha is settled:
Bradley Smith and Pol Espar-
garo are staying put. Pramac
Ducati confirmed the signing
of Scott Redding a month ago,
alongside incumbent Danilo
Petrucci.
After the sponsorship prob-
lems of CWM (big chief Anthony
Constantinou facing sundry
financial and other criminal
charges) LCR Honda is to revert
to its formerly successful formu-
la—one rider and event-by-event
sponsorship. Cal Crutchlow was
confirmed to stay at Silverstone
and rookie Jack Miller is out.
The Australian, however, has
a contract directly with HRC,
and the smart money sees the
20-year-old being placed in an
expanded Estrella Galicia Marc
VDS squad, where Tito Rabat
is already set to replace the
departed Redding.
Miller had been tipped to
replace the departing Nicky
Hayden at the Aspar team,
but the important Spanish-run
super-squad is moving ever
closer to a switch from Honda to
Ducati, after disappointing per-
formance from the Open RCV.
This would be the Spanish
squad's third switch in as many
years, after the former multi-
champion owner Jorge Martinez
added MotoGP to his Moto2
and Moto3 portfolio with Aprilia.
