main with a third in his heat race
while his son, Cooper, won his LCQ
to earn a ticket to the main. Destry
then pulled the holeshot in the main
and finished eighth, while Cooper
finished 11th.
The Women's class has become
very competitive with several riders
very close in speed. In Sacramento,
Rachel Gutish rode a flawless race
to lead every lap and take her sec-
ond ever EnduroCross main event
win. Lexi Pechout, the defending
Women's Champion took second in
a multi-rider battle that had all of the
riders unsure of what position they
were in. Spain's Sandra Gomez took
third despite riding with broken toes
that were injured just a week before.
The battle for the Women's Champi-
onship is now tied between Gutish
and Pechout with 90 points each.
Shelby Turner, the point's leader
coming in, finished fourth in the race
and is now third in points, just three
points back. Gomez is fourth, only
six points back and Mogan Tanke is
eight points back in fifth.
Morgan Tanke, one of the top
women riders and winner of the Day-
tona opening round, competed for
the first time on the innovative Beta
XTrainer. The 300 two-stroke is de-
signed for entry level riders or more
experienced riders looking for a bike
that is easier to handle on technical
terrain. It has a relatively low seat
height and a more mellow trials-type
power delivery. Check out the Cycle
