IN THE WIND P38 YAMAHA GOES RETRO FOR 60TH ANNIVERSARY T he AMA Superbike boys of Josh Hayes and Cam- eron Beaubier were onto something with their 'Speed Block' YZF-R1 color scheme for the final MotoAmerica round, as Yamaha have now confirmed they will be bring- ing out this beautiful YZF-R1 for the 2016 model year, in Europe at least. Cycle News tried many times over the past week to get a confirmation as to whether the U.S. market will be getting the iconic color scheme made famous by the American Yamaha factory racers of the 1970s (here's hoping we will), but couldn't get a yes or no out of them. The colors have made an appearance also at the Bol d'Or 24 Hour, with the GMT 94 and Yamaha Austria Racing Team running the colors to make Ya- maha's 60th Anniversary. This isn't the first time Yamaha has run the colors for a produc- tion bike, as in 2006 they also produced a series of special liveried YZF-R1s. Rennie Scaysbrook Yamaha's YZF-R1 to get the anniversary color scheme in 2016, in Europe. CALISTOGA HALF-MILE POSTPONED T he upcoming the Ramspur Winery Calistoga Half-Mile on September 26 has been post- poned due to the California wildfires. At this time the date of the rescheduled 13 th round of the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship is unknown. Discussions are ongoing between the promot- ers of the event and city officials regarding the rescheduling of the race. The new event date will be released as soon as it is established. Calistoga Speedway is located at the Napa County Fairgrounds, which are being used as an evacuation center for those displaced by the fires. "For now, our immediate thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their homes and had their lives turned upside down by this fire," said Terry Otton, on behalf of the event promotion team. "The management of the Napa County Fairgrounds and Calistoga city officials have assured us that they will do all they can to help us find a date to reschedule." "We echo Terry's sentiments," said Michael Gentry, Chief Operating Officer of AMA Pro Racing. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of the Napa region during this difficult time." CN
