VOL. 52 ISSUE 38 SEPTEMBER 22, 2015 P35
Teammate Tom
Sykes (66) took the
race one win, while
fellow Brit Chaz
Davies (hidden) took
race two.
I felt like yesterday we had the
bike to win," he said. "We did
not change anything today ex-
cept we put some fresh tires in
and I had an extra night's sleep!
I cannot be too downhearted
because I am really, really happy
to have won the title."
His fourth-place finish in the
second race made sure that
Kawasaki would also become
Manufacturers' Champions for
the very first time in this class.
And teammate Tom Sykes had
already helped out handily in
Kawasaki's cause by winning
race one.
He won a straight sprinting-
fight against Aruba.it Racing
Ducati's Chaz Davies on a bike
Sykes still does not get on with
as much as his 2014 version.
Both he and Rea used a differ-
ent all-new front tire at Jerez,
and in both races Rea came un-
stuck on it, Sykes going wrong
in race two for fifth. Even with a
not-perfect front in race one, he
won a race again, his fourth of
2015.
"I am happy with race one
and we worked hard all week-
end," said Sykes. "It was only in
morning warm-up that we put the
package together as one unit,
so race one was a little bit of an
experiment. I have never taken a
race win here in Jerez until now
and we did it quite convincingly."
Chaz Davies won the other
20-lap contest, this time being
able to carry out the plan he had
tried in race one, to run down
Sykes, and take his fifth win of
2015. His fourth win in the most
recent six races.
He re-signed with Ducati at
Jerez, so his program will roll
