CHAMPIONSHIP Briefly... The M4 Suzuki squad hosted former Norwegian road racing champion Caroline Olsen in her return to rac- ing in America. Olsen turned in a solid ride, taking sixth in Sunday's Superstock 600 final on her Loxy M4 Suzuki GSX-R600. Melissa Paris suffered a massive high side crash early in Saturday's Supersport race, but still man- aged to remount and carry on to a 12th place finish. Sunday's rematch would be no easier, as she was still very much suffering from the effects of Saturday's big fall. However, she overcame the pain to fight her way to an 11th place result in the end. Following the season finale, Paris said, "It was a bumpy weekend. Fri- day morning, I started out with a silly crash in practice, my first of the year, and it made for a lot of work for my mechanic. I actually managed to enjoy myself to get in a battle with someone and end the year on a good note." The 18-year-old Californian won his first-ever Supersport race in race one, completely dominating the race that was held in a rainstorm. Roberts led by as much as 17 seconds before slowing in the closing laps to win by an even- tual 6.3 seconds in what was his third Supersport race after wrapping up the Superstock 600 Championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in July.
