IN THE WIND P28 ROSSI'S MISANO HELMET EXPLAINED A s is tradition, Valentino Rossi had a special AGV helmet with graphics designed by Drudi Performance for his home Grand Prix at Misano. On both sides of the helmet, Rossi is character- ized as a little fish trying to get away from a big shark, and the words "Via! Via! Via!" ("Get away! Get away! Get away!"). Evidently, Movistar Yamaha rider did not want to get caught by his rivals at his home race. Going into the race, Rossi led the championship by 12 points over teammate Jorge Lorenzo, begging the question, was Lorenzo the shark? "The shark is not just Jorge [Lorenzo]," Rossi said. "If so, we'd put the shark with 99 [Lo- renzo's number] and everything. The idea is because I won last year… and everybody wants to WEBB CONQUERS RED BULL ROCKS AND LOGS T he "one-off" season for hard enduro contin- ued with the Red Bull Rocks and Logs event in Calgary, Canada. The third-annual event once again drew many of the top AMA EnduroCross riders to the great white north to compete in Canada's only urban Endurocross race. For the first time, the event's offered a pro-only line, which starred the likes of Colton Haaker, Cody Webb, Kyle Redmond, Cory Graffunder and Ty Tremaine. In the end, Webb bested the field to take a commanding win at his first-ever Rocks and Logs event. Haaker and Tremaine rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively. Canadian Graffunder was hoping to nab a vic- tory in his home country, but a big crash ended his bid at the podium. He still went on to card a fifth- place finish behind Redmond, who claimed fourth. It seemed none of the top riders were without incidents on the technical course. Webb had a get-off of his own after tangling with a lapper, and Haaker starred in a spectacular flying W in the boulders (see the video). The creative track at the Wild Rose MX Park, designed by Shane Cuthbertson, was rather lengthy, and included some unique obstacles such as a boulder hill climb and a log wall. The course went from tricky to treacherous when rain came in the afternoon, creating even more havoc, while a "joker lane" added yet another element to the pro race. "I was able to open up a big gap early on in the main by taking the joker lane," Webb explained. "Near the end of the race I got caught up with a lapper and ended up off the side of the track and it cut my lead in half. Luckily I was able to get back going again and calmly get the victory."
