Yamaha's M1 sported small winglets
at Misano on Friday, similar but dif-
ferent to the ones fitted by Ducati for
some time. On a new track surface
for the MotoGP class, and without
the benefit of having either tested at
Misano like Honda or done multiple
Misano laps on the R1 like Rossi, Lo-
renzo was not just fast on Friday, he
ended up beating the qualifying best
at Misano, with a 1:32.871. He said of
the addition to his Yamaha's fairing,
"The idea have more than 15 years
because Yamaha used it in '99 with
[Carlos] Checa and [Max] Biaggi, but
they didn't keep using it in the next
years and after some years we put
it again. Ducati started to use it this
year again, so they start it and we
make more or less the same to see
what happen. We tried in Aragon and
I wanted to try as soon as possible
here, to see if can be possible ben-
efits." In term of its ultimate effect on
the pace, Lorenzo said, "We're not
sure. We have to still see the telem-
etry… It's not a big difference be-
cause if it was, we would notice so
much from the first lap. But if it can
give you a very small advantage, it's
better."
Leopard Racing made the an-
nouncement that Miguel Oliveira,
currently riding at the top level for
Red Bull KTM Ajo in the Moto3
class, will join their ranks on a Moto2
bike in 2016. Oliveira said of his
move, "Honestly speaking I'm play-
ing around with this idea since the
beginning of this year. Of course it
will be a big step for me, but I feel I'm
ready to do it. Moto2 is a very difficult
category so I'll need a lot of training
to start this new chapter in my career

n a MotoGP race that will be remembered for much more than a
record-breaking full house attendance, Misano was a lucky 13th
round for some, a very unlucky 13th for others.
Count Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez as one of the luckiest,
but also the best as he—like all his peers—had to put up with a
track that was dry, wet, and dry again, and every other shade of
grey in between. Only he had the pace, the control and his team
the timing to win the race both off and on track. By a whopping
