2016 MOTOGP
SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
A
provisional 2016 calendar was released at Misano with 18
races on the schedule. The loss of Indianapolis as a Mo-
toGP venue means that there will be just one MotoGP event
in the U.S. – Circuit of The Americas – forming the third race
weekend of the season and coming along one week after the
Argentinean round at Termas de Rio Honda.
The loss of Indy is counterpointed by the addition of the Aus-
trian round, at the Red Bull Ring, on 14 August. Jerez and Brno
are currently on the list as subject to contract.
Silverstone now moves from its late August date to July 17th,
before a summer break in the schedule. Assen now features the
races on Sunday, June 26, not its traditional Saturday slot.
With the remaining calendar looking similar to the 2015 ver-
sion, the final trio of races in Asia now starts in Malaysia on
October 9, then goes to Motegi in Japan October 16, and then
ends in Phillip Island, October 23. The final round, as is tradi-
tional, will be at Valencia just two weeks after Australia.
