Briefly...
was leading it, parked it pretty much
going into turn three," Robinson ex-
plained. "I had nowhere to go and
was on the inside. Kenny was com-
ing down and I couldn't turn right to
miss him so I kept going lower and
caught my hand on the guardrail. It
sliced it up pretty good. I bounced
off the guardrail and into Kenny and
luckily it didn't take us both out. I
nearly went down."
edged Doug Lawrence for
eighth, while Shayna Texter
rounded out the top 10, finish-
ing one place ahead of her
brother Cory. It marked the first
Grand National main for Shayna
this season.
The national featured four dif-
ferent leaders with Smith lead-
ing 14 laps, Mees eight, John-
son two and Robinson leading
a single lap in the middle of the
race.
Early exits from the race
included Shawn Russell (18th

off before getting back to action
ing battle to the line.
Coolbeth barely avoided di-
saster when Brandon Robinson
tried coming up on the inside
of Coolbeth in turn three on the
final lap. Robinson found the
little gap he shot for close up
when Coolbeth turned in for the
turn and Robinson hit the inside
rail, getting out of shape and
bouncing into Coolbeth. Both
riders somehow stayed upright
in the scary incident, but their
shot to get in the lead draft was
lost.
Stevie Bonsey came home a
solid sixth, 4.6 seconds back
from the winner. Bonsey turned
the fastest lap of the race with
a 35.117-second time on lap
