IN THE WIND P28 HONDA ANNOUNCES AFRICA TWIN PRICING A merican Honda has announced pricing details for the eagerly awaited Africa Twin CRF1000L. If you want the standard version, it'll set you back $12,999. But if it's the dual-clutch transmission Africa Twin you want, you will need to part with $13,699. Those prices put the Africa Twin in a favor- able position when compared to the Yamaha Super Tenere, which costs $15,090, and slightly ahead of the Suzuki V-Strom 1000, released last year, which comes in at $12,699. Kawasaki's Versys 1000, the more road-orientated of the Japanese foursome, is on dealer floors for $12,799. But the ones Honda is gunning for are KTM's 1190 Adventure/Adventure R ($18,134/$16,499 ) and BMW's R 1200 GS/R 1200 GS Adventure ($16,175/$21,671), the established kings of the big-bore adventure category, and against both it comes out on top in terms of price. Will it come out on top in the real world? The second we ride it we'll let you know. CN WALKER LIGHTS UP RED BULL MEGAWATT R ed Bull KTM's Jonny Walker added yet another extreme off-road race win to his already impressive resume when he took top honors at the Red Bull 111 Megawatt event in Poland, September 6. The Brit didn't get off to the great start after finishing fourth in the qualifying prologue, but once it was time to get down to the real business at hand, Walker stepped it up and came from behind to take the win over fellow countryman Graham Jarvis and Swede Joakim Ljunggren. Poland's own Taddy Blazu- siak, of which the event gets its name, did not compete due to health issues. Walker overcame a few hic- cups along the way but ended up taking the checkered flag three minutes ahead of Jarvis. "After finishing second last year I really wanted to win badly today," Walker said. "To be hon- est I can't really fault my race too much." Husqvarna's Alfredo Gomez finished fourth overall, while KTM rider Manuel Lettenbichler rounded out the top five. CN Jonny Walker came from behind to win the Red Bull 111 Megawatt extreme off-road race in Poland.
