INTERVIEW MOTOAMERICA SUPERSPORT RACER CAMERON PETERSEN P86 home in Colorado. "When we first got there I had never seen snow before or anything," he said. "We arrived there and it was minus 17 or something stupid like that. For the first few weeks it was hard. I don't like the cold at all. But it's such a nice place. "We're living on Danny's [Walker] property in just like a little trailer. It's cool though because I can open up the door and he's got a little motocross track there and a flat track so I get to ride motorbikes whenever I want. It helps a lot." Right now, it's just Petersen and his dad this year, but if they race next year, the hope is to have his Mom and sister come over as well. As of yet, those plans aren't firmed up. "We've spoken about it a little bit to Danny and Jeremy La- Trasse, the [RoadRace Factory] team owner," he said. "They're still not too sure what they're do- ing next year. We've just been speaking to a few people, just kind of putting my name out there. Just to keep me in mind. So still not too sure what we're going to do next year, but for sure, we're going to do what- ever we can to stay." After all, he's quite happy here and happy with the team. "I really like the people here," Petersen said. "The team that I'm with now, everybody on the team, they're just unbelievable people. They look after us. "To have people like that around you helps big time. I trust everyone on the team. I think it's starting to show a little bit. We're starting to work really well together and the results are coming." So where does he want to go from here? "Obviously the ultimate goal I think for every racer is to get to MotoGP, but to get into that paddock is super hard," he acknowledged. "I think unless you're a really special rider and growing up in Spain with the right support you can get in, but otherwise you just need a lot of money and need to know the right people. For now I'm just go- ing to take it one step at a time. I'm pretty happy where I am. It's always been a dream of mine to come race in America. We'll just take it one step at a time and see where it takes me." CN EVEN JUST SPEAKING TO SHERIDAN [MORAIS] WHO'S RACED IN THE WORLD SUPERBIKES FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS, HE JUST SAID THAT THIS PADDOCK, THIS SERIES IS 10 TIMES BETTER THAN WORLD SUPERBIKES… I THINK WE DEFINITELY MADE THE RIGHT DECISION TO COME TO AMERICA. Petersen and South African Moto3 racer Darryn Binder before Petersen's debut MotoAmerica race at the Circuit of the Americas.
